nothing is impossible

Missions

Chris LewisRev. Christopher Lewis has been involved in work in East Africa regularly since 1995 and has been involved in the planting of a number of churches in Tanzania and Kenya, as well as in the training of pastors and church planters in those countries. Hazel Bech and Dr Mark Redwine have also been on the team for the past few years and are doing a great job helping to train pastors and working with the people in many practical ways. Rev. Billy Huddleston has also recently joined the team.

In addition to those listed above, however, there are many team members involved in the work we do in Africa. Pastors and leaders in Tanzania and Kenya are actively involved in the continuation of the work throughout the year, and volunteers from around the world join us to help in various ministries such as: preaching and teaching, working with the children, participating in prayer teams and counselling ministries, etc. If you are interested in joining a team in Africa, please contact us via the form below.

We also need people who are willing to support this ministry through their prayers, so even if you can’t come in person please pray for us. If you would like to receive regular updates on our work in Africa, as well as the other works that Nothing is Impossible ministries is involved with around the world, please also let us know via the contact form and tell us that you would like to pray for us. Regular updates will be sent to you on how you can pray specifically for the ministry as well as reports on what God is doing in answer to your prayers.

Our work in Africa has many facets. Some of the things we do include large evangelistic outreaches in the marketplaces, personal visits in the homes of the people, ministry to the women and children, practical compassionate ministries in developing countries, the training of pastors and leaders in the work of church planting, and training for local churches in the work of follow-up and discipleship.

Evangelistic Outreaches

Since 1995, thousands of people have made professions of faith in Jesus Christ at meetings just like the one pictured here. These outreaches are also often used to launch new churches.

Outreaches of this kind involve much more than the work of the speaker on the platform. There are prayer teams at work in a room nearby, counselors standing ready to work with the new converts, musicians and singers prepared to lead in times of praise and worship, and the work of local leaders who are busy throughout the year with preparation for this moment beforehand and follow-up and discipleship of the new Christians afterwards. Please pray that God will continue to guide us in this ministry and that many thousands more will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour!

Personal visits in the homes of the people

Many people have come to faith in Christ through home visits. Team members often get opportunities to sit in the homes of African families, drinking tea and talking about Jesus. Sometimes these precious moments turn out to be wonderful times of fellowship with our African brothers and sisters, a reminder that we are part of a great international families. On other occasions, these visits afford us the opportunity to talk to people who are not yet a part of that family and to share the good news about Jesus Christ with them.

Ministry to women

Women are the backbone of African society. They work on the land as subsistence 'farmers' trying to grow enough to feed their extended families. They bring up the children. Often they bring up several orphans alongside their own children as HIV/AIDS claims the lives of so many innocent women. They are indispensable in the churches and yet they are often neglected and marginalized. Many are widows because of HIV/AIDS and are struggling, materially and spiritually. We have been ministering to women with teaching, prayer and encouragement. This is something new for many of them and we have been blessed to work with them and to see the Holy Spirit at work in their lives.

Ministry to the children

Many of these children will never grow up to be adults. Living in poverty, many African children die young of diseases such as AIDs, malaria, and even sicknesses that would be treatable in societies where medications can be afforded. This means that reaching the children while they are young is all the more important because for many of them it will be their only chance. Our children’s teams are a vital part of the ministry and have been used by God to lead many of these precious young people to Christ.

Compassionate ministries in developing countries

In cooperation with On Eagles Wings and SEED International, NII is involved in a variety of practical ministries in developing countries. Current works include an orphan/widow project in the Mwanza area of Tanzania in partnership with the Church of the Nazarene.  We have supplied cows, crops, a teacher and a nurse, clothing and school tuition for the orphans. We have also united orphans with widows and are forming new family units. We support these new units in economic development of any project they can make work and sustain.  We have also supplied funds for buildings, and bicycles for pastors to go where there no roads. We have provided many Bibles for new converts. This project is self sustaining and ready to reproduce. We hope to go into the Mbeya area of Tanzania soon. Currently we are presenting an HIV/AIDS awareness program in various countries for youth that emphasizes avoidance behavior. It was developed by Verna Stanton at African Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya, and employs traditional storytelling and proverbs to promote and instill in youth Biblical values. It is also acting as a cultural preservation tool.

The training of pastors and leaders

Through the training events offered to pastors and leaders in Tanzania, many churches have successfully been planted over the past few years and many others have experienced considerable growth. The pastors are taught biblical principles in church planting and growth in an African context, and they are also helped to learn how to harness the limited resources available for the purpose of practical compassionate ministries in their communities.

Training for follow-up and discipleship

Nothing is Impossible ministries does not believe in “hit and run” evangelism, the style so often used in the past by ministries that have gone into communities to preach the good news of Jesus Christ but then left the new converts without any hope for being discipled and helped to grow as Christians. We refuse to participate in an evangelistic outreach unless we are also given the opportunity to work with the core groups of local Christians who will be leading the new church and to teach them about how to follow-up the work that is started. Many churches have taken the instructions given at these times and gone on to lead the many new Christians into a vibrant experience of Christian community for years to come.

Nothing is Impossible Ministries is grateful for your prayers and support. As with any such endeavour, a great deal of finances are needed to keep such a ministry operating. If you should feel led to contribute financially to this work, please contact us via the form below:
